Marc Martin

Marc Martin is an award-winning illustrator and artist from Melbourne, Australia. He works with watercolour, gouache and pencil, building up richly detailed, delicately layered worlds of dense colour and texture. And the odd scribble.

His work has appeared in magazines, on advertising, wallpaper, stationery, and homewares. He’s also pretty popular with book lovers, who’ve snapped up his self-penned projects A Forest, A River, LOTS and The Curious Explorer’s Illustrated Guide to Exotic Animals A-Z. His picture books have been translated into multiple languages around the world, and his book A River was selected by the New York Times as one of the best-illustrated books of 2017.

Our Collection
Marc Martin’s got a wandering imagination, a sharp eye, and a soft, gauzy, whimsical way about him. He draws inspiration from far and wide: sleepy dogs, inner-city terraces, Japanese streetscapes, becalmed oceans, riotous birds in imaginary rainforests…

By God he’s prolific. We resorted to Paper, Scissors, Rock trying to whittle down his selection for the On Stone Collection.
