Sam is a one-man-band-cafe, he brings music and daily tip-bits into your life; served with coffee. Working with Sam’s eclectic passions – war horses, early 19th century european postcards, general history and Bo Diddly we created several polyptychs to encapsulate Sam.
Emma: Tell us about your cafe?
Sam: Some people have these schemes: Get rich quick schemes, but I thought I’d do a get poor slow scheme. I thought I would run myself into the ground.
Nick: Death by 1000 cuts…
Sam: Yeah, death by 1000 cups.
Nick: Much better…
Sam: I can’t actually remember, I use to have this amazing story to tell.
Nick: Weren’t you an arms dealer?
Sam: Well, define Arms?
Nick: That industry just didn’t have legs…
Sam: I wasn’t quite an Arms dealer. I remember having a crisis of conscious.
Nick: You don’t think you should be a war monger?
Sam: You know the guy who peddles Japanese comics? He’s a manga monger.
Nick: Sam use to work for Platypus arms dealers selling death and destruction…
Sam: And boots and socks; then I had an epiphany…
Nick: Make coffee, not war?
Sam: Make coffee, not warts.
Nick: And that’s it?
Sam: That’s pretty much it.
Emma: Thanks Sam.
